For years, generating a professional PDF from WordPress meant duct-taping shortcodes together,
hiring a developer, or paying for a SaaS tool that lived outside your site. There was
no elegant, native option — just workarounds. So we built one.
How PDFDraft was born
WordPress powers over 40% of the web, yet for years it had no first-class way to generate PDFs. Site owners were stuck with clunky shortcode hacks, heavyweight page-builder exports, or expensive third-party APIs that shipped their data off-site. The gap was glaring.
The ThemeGrill team had watched this play out from the inside — building WordPress themes and plugins since 2014, fielding the same support question over and over: “how do I export this as a PDF?” Every answer involved a compromise, so we stopped pointing people to workarounds and built the real solution ourselves.
PDFDraft is the result — a visual PDF builder that lives entirely inside WordPress, needs zero code, and gives you pixel-level control over every document you create. We’re early, we’re growing, and we’re building this in public, shaped by the community using it.
