WordPress deserved a better PDF plugin.
For years, generating PDFs in WordPress meant duct-taping together shortcodes, hiring a developer, or paying for bloated SaaS tools that lived outside your site. There was no elegant, native solution — just workarounds. We built PDFDraft because WordPress site owners deserved something better: a plugin that feels at home in WordPress, works without friction, and puts you in full control of every PDF you create.
So we built one.
OUR STORY
How PDFDraft was born
WordPress powers over 40% of the web — yet for years it had no first-class solution for generating PDFs. Site owners resorted to clunky shortcode hacks, heavyweight page-builder exports, or expensive third-party APIs that required sending your data off-site. The gap was glaring.
The ThemeGrill team had watched this problem from the inside — building themes and plugins for WordPress since 2014, fielding support tickets asking “how do I export this as a PDF?” more times than we could count. Every answer involved a compromise. So we decided to stop pointing users toward workarounds and build the real solution ourselves.
PDFDraft is the result: a visual PDF builder that lives entirely inside WordPress, requires zero coding, and gives you pixel-level control over every document you create. We’re early, we’re growing, and we’re building this in public — with every release shaped by the community using it.
